Importance of Testing

The novel coronavirus or COVID-19 virus has paralyzed the world economies. The lack of medication or vaccine for this particular virus strain coupled with the fact that it spreads fast and wide has made it a hard enemy to deal with. One of the ways to ensure your community is protected from this virus is to improve the testing numbers and trace contacts of people who tested positive.

By testing everyone in the community, it becomes easy to ascertain who has been exposed and to impose isolation/quarantine procedures. Large-scale testing also helps understand the level of virus spread in the locality/community and enact appropriate regulations.

Getting tested is also essential to receive travel documents and for employment.

How it Works

Fast Covid Test 4U uses Healgen COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette. This test cassette uses the principle of testing for the Covid-19 antibody present in your system to confirm your exposure to the virus.

  • The test kit is a type of a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. It uses color-based representations to check the flow and reaction of the antibodies in your body to test you.
  • The test kit contains a gold colloidal solution, anti-human IgM antibody, anti-human IgG antibody, and rabbit IgG antibody.
  • The IgM and IgG antibody sections confirm or reject the presence of COVID-19 antibodies in your body while the rabbit IgG antibody serves as the control line.
  • The test kit has gold-based colloidal solutions with COVID-19 antigens and (SARS-CoV-2 Spike S1 antigen).
  • If your body has been exposed to the Covid-19 virus, the antibodies in your system will react with the antigens present on the test surface to form red bands across the IgM and IgG test lines to confirm it.

Frequently Asked Questions

The antigen test is used to detect antibodies that are specific for a particular microorganism.

The Antigen Test detects the presence of an antibody in your blood stream which will produce flu like symptoms if you come into contact with such bacteria/virus etc.

I should get a Covid-19 test because it will give me peace of mind and help protect my family. It is also required in some places in order to travel. Schedule an appointment today to get tested.

Antibodies are proteins that can neutralize a foreign substance in our body. They generally combine with substances like bacteria, viruses and other similar objects to help fight it off from the inside out.

There are two types of antibodies: IgM and IgG. They both protect our body, but they have different uses. When the body is exposed to an infection or disease within 3-7 days for instance, we make a type of antibody called “IgM.” But it can take 7-30+ days after exposure before we produce another kind that’s known as “IgG.”

The test result as positive indicates that your body contains the antibodies to the COVID-19 strain. This could mean that you have been exposed to the virus in the last 3-30 days based on the result and need to isolate yourself to avoid spread. There is also a small chance that it could be a false positive result showing up a past infection of a different coronavirus strain. The healthcare professional administering the tests can explain further if you have any doubts.

A negative test means that the test did not detect any antibody to the virus in your sample. It could mean that either you have not been infected yet or it is too early to form antibodies in your body. If you have a negative test result and develop any symptoms, it is advisable to take the test again.

PCR and antigen testing are used to diagnose active COVID-19 infections via saliva or nasal swab. If the person has an active infection, these tests will be positive. Antibody testing, however, does not detect active infection. It checks for the antibodies formed in our system once we have been exposed to the virus. Antibody tests can detect antibodies present for more than 7 days in our system.
